Iowa One of Seven States to be Targeted in Next Two Weeks

Anybody watching the third and final debate last night may have noticed that both candidates were much more laid back.  The focus of the debate was foreign policy, so perhaps the semi-peaceful exchange between the candidates was a good sign for the future.  In the next two weeks however, the candidates will be anything but passive, as Barack Obama and Mitt Romney campaign furiously in a fight to the finish.

During the last weeks of campaigning, Obama and friends will head to Ohio, Florida and Virginia, three swing states which Joe Biden called “critical.”  If the Democrats don’t win Ohio, their backup plan is to win New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nevada and Colorado.

Romney also plans to hit up Iowa in the coming weeks.

According to the latest Rasmussen Report, a “telephone survey of Likely Iowa Voters finds Obama and Romney each earning 48 percent support.  One percent (1 percent) prefers some other candidate, while two percent (2 percent) are still undecided.”

Says Republican Governor Terry Branstad,  “I don’t think this is going to be any landslide election. I think it’s going to be a close election.”  “…A lot of the undecideds are just starting to tune in now. The partisans have long-since decided.”
